The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and in Higher Education is designed to (1) support mid- career practitioners working in various executive or administrative roles within school districts, state agencies, community-based organizations, international agencies and within higher education including community colleges, state colleges or research universities and to (2) develop the analytical and research skills to address problems of practice.

Upon completion of coursework, participants will embark on a capstone project designed to improve the practice of education, affect policy change and implementation, or contribute to the international community. A foundational belief of the program is that education and policy are integrally connected in both domestic and international settings. The program is practice-oriented and facilitated through problem-based modes of inquiry. The program participants are required to develop and defend a capstone project in one of three areas: a completed action research, program analysis, or program evaluation study that informs the workplace or larger community. Completion of the program is three (3) years.
